In the past few years, fighter Mike Tyson has turned his life around. Once known for his reputation of being violent both inside and outside the ring, now Tyson is spending his life focusing on the things that really matter like family and his health.
Tyson is now doing a reality show about his passion for breeding and racing pigeons. His producer recognizes that Tyson is a changed man. “In the past, the world looked on Mike as a pariah, but the Mike Tyson I know is really at a stage in his life where he is trying to transform himself,” says the executive producer of Mike’s reality show.
In 2007, Tyson attended rehab and got sober and continued to work on changing his life after the loss of his daughter in 2009. He was addicted to everything and he was feeling sick and knew it was time for change. He knew he would not do justice to his daughter’s memory by being filled with anger so he set his sights on being a more positive person.
Tyson’s first change was a big one, he lost 100 pounds on a restricted diet of tomato basil soup and water for six months straight. Today Tyson is an avid vegan.
Next, he changed to a healthier lifestyle. He gets more sleep by going to bed at 8 p.m. and gets up at 4 a.m. to take care of his pigeons.
Tyson says the debts he owes in bills can be repaid, but the debt to his family is most important. He has become a better father since the loss of his daughter. His priorities are in order so the stress is much less.
