Christian diet advantages and disadvantages.

“Pray Your Weight Away” was founded by Rev. Charlie Shedd’s and there were other titles like “Fat is in Your Head” and “Devotions for Dieters”. These books spurred support groups, e-courses and church based weight loss programs. These types of programs have began in 1957.

Thin Within is a “grace oriented” approach to weight loss founded by Judy Halliday. Halliday says “Slim is how God meant us to be”. The group claims to have more than 170 support groups around the world. This program is said to show people “how to reconnect with God and achieve the weight that God meant for them to be.”

People are born with different sizes, colors and shapes. The “ideal” body size is determined as much by prevailing fashion. Our differences are a great gift from God.

The Weigh Down Workshop is a 12 week Bible study offered at 35,000 churches around the world. This Tennessee based program has more than a million people in 70 countries involved. A dietician named Gwen Shamblin founded the program. The program states that overweight people have mistaken a spiritual emptiness for a hunger for food. The goal of the program is to “learn how to replace head hunger with the will of God so that you transfer this urge for a pan of brownies to that of hungering and thirsting after righteousness.”

The “Christian diet” is like other diets in that it is chalked full of low carb, low fat, calorie counting, fruits, fiber, whole grains, and vegetables. It also includes exercising on a regular basis.

The “Christian diet” has great advantages, in that the support group is large and you are doing something for God. The disadvantage is if you don’t reach your goal, you could feel more guilt and shame than with other programs.

When you ask the questions, “What Would Jesus Eat?”, it sends mixed signals. His lifestyle included lots of traveling from village to village on foot. He did not have a home. His diet consisted of whatever he was offered by temporary hospitality. This involved, as you can imagine, a large amount of walking. He was not tempted by the fast food that we have in front of us now.

The bottom line is that you need to eat less and exercise more.

Just keep track of what you eat and then subtract one or two of the more calorie rich items as part of the daily routine. Then add regular exercise which could be a long walk three or four times a week. Reduce the number of calories you intake and then burning off the calories that you intake.

Losing weight with self hypnosis.

There have been myths when it comes to hypnosis and many people find it scary, but self hypnosis can be a very valuable tool for the battle to lose weight.
Here is how you begin self hypnosis weight loss and the truth.

Hypnosis is a heightened state of awareness and is a natural state of mind. We experience it with daydreaming or if you are into a movie or book and fail to hear someone speaking to us. It is a way of communicating with your unconscious mind. Be sure while in this state that you give suggestions in a positive manner like ‘I am slim, fit and healthy’ instead of ‘I’m not overweight’. It is a practical and effective technique for altering the way you look at food. The first thing you will want to do is think positive with thoughts like ‘I enjoy fruit and vegetables’ or ‘I exercise everyday’. You will want to choose five statements to use and read over several times a day.

Now you will want to find a quiet, comfortable place to sit or lie down. While you play some relaxing music you will need to relax your body. Close your eyes and imagine waves of relaxation running down your body from your scalp downwards, washing out stress. Let the waves run in time with your breathing, first washing down over your head, then your neck, then your torso, then arms, and finally your legs. Feel the muscles in your body relaxing as the waves of relaxation wash over them. Or start with relaxing the muscles around your eyes then your jaws downward throughout your body. In your mind, keep saying ‘Relax, soften, loosen’.

Use suggestion to deepen your relaxation. Tell yourself something like ‘ I am feeling relaxed and comfortable’. Counting backwards from 20 helps some people as well. You will not feel hypnotized, instead you will feel deeply related. Once you are completely relaxed, start visualizing how you want to look like size and weight. Mix the visualizations with the relaxation suggestions. Make sure you see yourself in your imagination, you are in your own body.
When you are ready say to yourself, “on the count of five, I will open my eyes”. Count backwards slowly. For best results you will want to repeat this every day and remember that perseverance is key to the success of hypnosis.

More information on Green Tea.

Green tea benefits studies.

If you are currently taking weight loss pills, just look at the back of the bottle and you will see “green tea” or “green tea extract” listed as an ingredient. Green tea helps in weight loss as it has been proven in studies to burn calories and block fat absorption.

Food is synthesized into “triglycerides” in the small intestine and liver and then carried into the bloodstream to other tissues in the body. Triglyceride is used as a source of energy and is necessary for physical activity and life support. When there is too much triglyceride, it turns into fat and causes obesity. Green tea contains high amounts of polyphenols which is enzyme that dissolves excess triglyceride.

Catechin polyphenols are powerful antioxidants that are in green tea and are responsible for the health benefits of green tea. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) stimulates the metabolism and accelarates weight loss. EGCG and caffeine in green tea, stimulate the central nervous system and causes fat to release into bloodstream for fuel. Thermogenesis is what this process is known as.

Though caffeine cannot stimulate the metabolism alone, combined ingredients in green tea are very effective.

Exercising burns calories, builds muscle and increases your energy which boosts your metabolism. Catechin polyphenols in green tea stimulate the use of fatty acids. This allows more endurance and longer exercise timesdue to the reduction of the rate that carbohydrates are used. More endurance equals more exercise which equals more weight loss.
