
The Slim-Fast weight loss program has long been around, and consists of using a series of shakes, each with their own specific nutritional composition, to replace meals. These meal-replacement beverages, known as MRs to people interested in weight loss programs, have long been shown by various scientific studies to truly induce weight loss.
The Slim-Fast program works best for men, who do not have the time to count calories in the food that they eat. Reducing the number of calories can indeed shave off a few extra pounds, but keeping track of calories can be tiring. Slim-Fast has long been shown to be foolproof, as the calorie count of each shake is well-quantified, and all that Slim-Fast program members have to do is drink a specific shake at a specific time.
Slim-Fast products can be bought over the counter, and contain about two hundred calories for each serving. These products are also fortified with vitamins and minerals. Each shake can replace about a meal or two each day, and need only to be mixed with milk or water to be consumed.
In a recent study of Slim-Fast products, doctors compared patients using the Slim-Fast diet with patients using ordinary low-calorie diets. Doctors found that people on the Slim-Fast diet could lose as much as seven to eight percent of their total body weight after about twelve months – roughly the same amount you would lose if you were taking a weight-loss drug, but without the side effects. On the other hand, people who ate low calorie diets lost around three percent of their total body weight in the same amount of time.
Slim-Fast also works well in the long term. According to a decade-long study, people who replaced two meals with Slim-Fast shakes each day, and then replaced one meal with the shake when they reached goal weight, lost as much as seven pounds in the ten years even while on high fat diets. Moreover, they kept the seven pounds off through the entire study.
